ARIZONA LEGISLATURE COMMITTEE TO HOLD HOUSING HEARING IN TUCSON
September 12, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
ARIZONA LEGISLATURE COMMITTEE TO HOLD HOUSING HEARING IN TUCSON – The Arizona Legislature’s Housing Supply Study Committee will hold a hearing in Tucson on Monday, Sept. 12, from 1-3 p.m., in Mayor and Council Chambers at Tucson City Hall, 255 W. Alameda St., in Downtown Tucson. The agenda will have a Call to the Audience item. The committee is holding hearings at the State Capitol and across Arizona. After those hearings, it will make recommendations to the full Arizona Legislature on how the state can increase the housing supply in Arizona. The City of Tucson, like many Arizona cities, aims to balance the need for additional housing units with the need to protect existing neighborhoods, neighborhood quality-of-life, and existing property values. Zoning rules and city policies that require public input help mayors and councils seek that balance in the cases that come before them. Reducing or removing local authorities and neighborhood input in zoning or land use regulations could raise significant issues for Tucson neighborhoods. More information here
